‘Not Waving, but Drowning’ is the second studio album by English rapper Loyle Carner. It was released earlier this year (2019) We’re a bit late to the party for this Jazzy, lo-fi hip hop album, but it’s better late than never. It’s brilliant, from the first song, a love letter to his mum called ‘Dear Jean’ right through to ‘Dear Ben,’ a song featuring his mum with lyrics aimed at him. (His real name is Benjamin Gerard Coyle-Larner) It’s got a beautiful rhythm to it, and lyrics mainly about the love for his new girlfriend and his mum. ‘Loose ends’ feat Jorja Smith is one of our favourite songs this year. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
